Join photographer Rita Kluge for six unforgettable days of in-water encounters with the humpback whales on your 8 night holiday in the Kingdom of Tonga’s famous Vava’u Group of Islands.
Your whale watching days will be spent with Rita and our on-water crew of specialist Licensed Whale Swimming Skippers and Guides.
Your off-water time will be at Talau House, our home-stay style guesthouse in Nieafu, on the main island of Vava’u. Here you and Rita will join with Darren Jew (lead photographer and founder of Whales Underwater) and his group, for editing and processing “lab-time”. Both Darren and Rita will assist you to bring out the best in your images, with the aim that you get great images of the whales and improve your photography generally, from whatever level you may start.
Rita Kluge is a freelance photographer originally from Germany, now living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Australia.
Rita’s great passion is capturing the ocean and all it has to offer; be it surfers, swells or marine wildlife. She spent the 2015 whale season in Tonga capturing images of humpbacks with her unique style. She also enjoys working with charitable organisations to help keep our oceans clean and protect the life they hold.
Rita donates her time to assist a number of not-for-profit organisations, including Wild Dolphin Swim and Living Ocean, offering her photography services to assist their marine mammal research. She has worked as Instructor of Wing Chun Kung Fu, snowboard instructor, surf instructor and water ski instructor and is also a physiotherapist having worked for on the Swatch Wave Tour with legends including Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Luke Egan and pro skater Tony Hawk.
Rita recently received three Silvers in the 2015 Better Photography Awards, and was Runner-up in the Animal Category of the 2015 Australian Marine Conservation Society’s Amazing Oceans Photographer of the Year competition.
